This past June, our Creative Director, Jamie Blakey and OneTeaspoon Business Owner, Liz Roberts headed over to Italy with some lucky members of the OneTeaspoon Team. See all our highlights (and a lot of wine, we promise we did work for “some” of it…shhhh) as we take you through Florence, Tuscany and the AWESOME Amalfi Coast (we’re thinking of moving our office there!). Part 1 of our European summer adventure starts here…

First stop was stunning Florence, and what an amazing city! The architecture was just breathtaking – our favourite was the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore (and you can probably see why)! Another highlight of Florence was the food! One of our favourite places was just around the corner from the cathedral, called Coquinarius, which was filled with vintage tables and a wine wall (heaven)!! Another must-go was Harry’s Bar on The Arvo River, filled with old school character. One of Jamie’s picks was a local deli she accidentally found on one of her early morning walks, the I' Covo De' Ghiotti. This local eatery was full of local Italian charm – worth the visit! If you’re after a little luxury, head over to the Westin Excelsior, with its roof top bar and spa overlooking Florence roof tops!! Our biggest recommendation is to take the time to walk around Florence, there are lots of little squares with alfresco dining and bars off the beaten track, where you can find a good Bloody Mary or Spritz.

Now it seems like we did a lot of eating and drinking, but we can assure you the main reason for our time in Florence was the Pitti Uomo, a men’s trade show. And WOW there were some cool-as, old dudes rocking some sick designs. Drop crotch, statement blazers and crazy beards were the go (the pictures speak louder than words)!

Our second stop a little town called Montalcino in Tuscany, where we stayed at Castello Di Velona Resort (and man, was this place nice!). A fortress during the 11th century, it has now been converted into a hotel, spa and winery overlooking the hillside – just perfection! Just to create some food envy - their wine was some of the smoothest wine we’ve ever had (and exclusively sold at the resort). They cooked their pasta in a giant parmesan wheel, and for dessert the tiramisu was made on the spot in front of you – magnifico!

For recovery from the food coma, we headed to secluded thermal baths near the small town of Bagno Vignoni. These bright aqua thermal pools are nestled on the side of a hill – the perfect spot to relax before heading back to the town, for you guested it – more food!

Our third and final stop in Italy was the Amalfi Coast. We decided to base ourselves in a local town called Cetara to stay away from the main tourist areas (and we highly recommend visiting this little town)! We booked an Airbnb villa, called Cas deli Limoni, right on the rocky cliffs with our own private beach (how good is that! And, the perfect spot for a quick shoot – check out the images below!)

In town, while walking through the cobbled stone streets, we stumbled upon Ristorante Acquapazza Cetara (where we pretty much ate the entire time) and a great wine bar right next door. There was also some great little local delis with local wines and cheeses!

The best way to sightsee the Amalfi Coast is to hire a boat. This can be pretty inexpensive and it means you can avoid all the traffic (plus lets face it, the view is better from a boat). We parked our boat at the little known town of Furore on our way to Positano. Filled with wooden boats and white buildings, this place is just so beautiful! We headed up the hill to I’Pirata a little café hanging over the cliff face for a quick break before we headed off to Maiori Beach in Positano, and the perfect location for a shoot with Linnea Berzen...

And now for some tunes from our Euro playlist - enjoy!

Stay tuned for Part Two of our European adventure from Ibiza, Spain coming soon...
